Open Burning Ban & Fire Pits
New Rules

Recently we received new rules from the Garfield County fire marshall, Josh Soper, regarding Open Burning within the Panguitch Lake Special Services Fire District. (That's us). The new rules are as follows:

1. Any open burning requires a permit from the fire department.
2. A fire pit of at least 12 inches deep and preferably 24 inches deep, ringed and wtih rocks is required.
3. A radius of 20 feet must be cleared around the fire pit.
4. Trees within the radius of 20 feet of the fire pit must be cleared to a minimum of 10 feet from the ground.
5. It's a good idea to keep a water source in the area.

Permits can be obtained by notifying the Panguitch Lake Fire Department at 435-676-2444 or the Panguitch Lake Fire Department Chief, Dave Etter at 435-676-2046.

Violations of these rules could result in a fine of up to $250.00. Let's keep our beautiful surroundings safe from the terrible ravages of fire.
